Just a few reminders regarding neighborhood covenants that impact the overall beauty of the neighborhood:
Weeds, Weeds, Weeds:
Weeds are perhaps the fastest way for a neighborhood to look uncared for. It’s also a covenant violation to allow weeds to grow not only in your yard, but in flower beds, in tree beds/circles or really anywhere. See all those weeds growing in the cement cracks in the street? If they are in front of your house, they are also your responsibility. Please hit them with Round-Up or other solution on a regular basis.
Make sure your trash cans are not visible from the street:
This is also a covenant restriction. Trash cans can only be visible on trash day (24 hours). That means that not only should your trash container not be on the street, it should not be visible from the street. Put it in the garage or behind your fence. There is nothing attractive about a trash can.
Don’t leave basketball goals in or facing the street:
Who doesn’t love basketball? We all do except when we have to dodge the kids on the street shooting at the basketball goal that hangs over the street. Parents, this is not only a violation of our by-laws, it is a dangerous practice! This comes from Section IA #3 under STREETS, EASEMENTS AND UTILITIES:
“No building structure, or other above or below ground obstruction that will interfere with the purposes aforesaid, shall be placed, erected, installed or permitted upon the easements or right-of-ways as shown.”
Scoop The Poop!
It is just common courtesy to clean up after your dog when you go for walks in the neighborhood. Your neighbors will all be very grateful. Also, please do not put dog waste bags in other people’s trash cans. Thank you!
Be sidewalk friendly.
According to Bixby city code, we need to cut tree limbs to hang no less than 8 feet above the sidewalk. Let’s keep the sidewalks safe for pedestrians and especially children.
