In addition to the neighborhood covenants, there are several published laws on the books for the City of Bixby that impact the look and safety of our neighborhood. Some of those follow, but the entire list of ordinances . Code Enforcement Issues must be reported in the ways outlined on the Bixby Police Website. Trim your trees over the sidewalk.
7-1-2: MAINTENANCE OF VEGETATION IN RIGHTS OF WAY:
“All trees and shrubbery within the adjacent right of way shall be trimmed so that the lowest branches or foliage shall not be lower than ten feet (10′) above the roadway of a street or alley, nor lower than eight feet (8′) above the sidewalk.”
Don’t block the sidewalk with cars, basketball goals or any other items. This forces pedestrians including children to enter the street.
“It is unlawful for any person to use or obstruct the sidewalks of the city in any manner so as to interfere unduly with pedestrian traffic thereon”
Also- The City of Bixby reminds us: “The City has received numerous calls recently regarding individuals blowing grass clippings into the street. This can potentially cause a problem with storm water drainage. Please remind residents and landscaping contractor personnel that it is a violation of City Code to blow or sweep grass clippings, leaves, etc., onto streets or sidewalks.” This also includes Fireworks!
Bixby City Code 7-1-6: UNLAWFUL DEPOSIT OF REFUSE:
It is unlawful for any person to deposit, throw or sweep into or upon a street, alley, parking or sidewalk of the city any paper, rubbish, grass, weeds, tree trimmings, dirt, trash, crates, boxes, filth, refuse, garbage, ashes, rubbish, animal or vegetable matter, or any refuse of any kind. (Code 22-7).
